Engine Yard Named 'Cool Vendor' by Leading Analyst Firm

The report examines a select group of vendors Gartner considers innovative

Engine Yard, the Rails hosting leader, announced that it has been included in the "Cool Vendors in Cloud Computing System and Application Infrastructure, 2009"* report by Gartner, Inc. The report examines a select group of vendors Gartner considers innovative, impactful and insightful in the cloud computing system and application infrastructure market.

Published on April 6, 2009, the report cites, "cloud-based system and application infrastructure services are emerging as a foundation on which to build and run cloud-based applications...Companies evaluating the use of the cloud as a platform for custom applications face new offerings from existing players and an expanding set of new vendors specifically targeting the cloud."

"It's always been our goal to help people handle the complexities of running Rails-based applications so they could leverage the power and speed of the technology worry-free," said John Dillon, CEO of Engine Yard. "Today, more than 400 customers rely on Engine Yard's expertise and infrastructure to handle the heavy lifting so they can focus on their core business. We believe our listing as a 'cool vendor' underscores not only our innovation and market strength but also the traction of Rails in the enterprise. We plan to continue bolstering all three in the coming year."

Engine Yard offers a unique combination of Rails technology, services, and technical leadership. The company's internal cloud platform combines high-end clustering resources to run Ruby and Rails applications securely in the cloud, while Engine Yard's team of Ruby and Rails technical experts delivers 24*7 maintenance and support. These same experts lead and participate in the open-source projects that are driving the future of Ruby and Rails. Engine Yard also offers Solo, a cost-effective, web-based platform that allows users to deploy Engine Yard's Rails stack on Amazon EC2.
